    Yoga Basics I for Beginners Series

    We are trying something different - now you can try our Beginners series in the comfort of your own home!  No one will be looking at you but the dog or cat:) Our teacher, Amy, does a fantastic job of explaining all the poses, so you'll feel like you're in the same room! 

    If you are brand new to yoga or want to reconnect with the basics, the Yoga Basics I for Beginners Series is the perfect class for you and it’s always a great time to start! Come and enjoy a supportive and compassionate environment where everyone is a beginner.  We will explore basic postures (asana) to get you moving and breathing techniques (pranayama) to deepen your breath capacity. You will learn yogic terminology, discover meditation practices to quiet the chatter of your mind, release stress, and gain insight into the principles of yoga philosophy. Our intention in the Yoga Basics I Series is to help you develop a lifelong love for yoga. Each week we will explore a new dimension of the practice. Therapeutic alignment, details, and special needs will be addressed as you learn to use props that aid in the practice and modifications of new postures. Props are a great tool to help your body explore this ancient and transformative practice.  Your questions are encouraged and serve to help others in the class gain a deeper understanding. So please don’t be afraid to ask!
    The supportive and compassionate environment of this series will provide you with the necessary foundation to develop a safe and rewarding yoga practice. Walk in a beginner and leave confident to explore the next phase of your practice!  What you need to know for your first class: Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move and stretch in, and yoga mat.   No yoga mat, you can use a beach towel on the floor or carpet.

    Restorative Yoga Teacher Training: Deep Haus Rest PART 2 with Gracie Jurkowski

    October 3 - 10:00am-4:30pm
    October 4 - 10:00am-4:30pm

     

    In this 12 hour weekend program we will drill deeper, exploring hybrid and contemporary restorative postures; troubleshooting the construction and deconstruction process of each pose. Each student will also travel down the rabbit hole of more subtle pranayamas, and will be given the opportunity to guide others in certain breath work practices. In addition to pranayama and poses, students will craft their own metaphors as a way to ignite and bolster meditation prompts as a way to keep every student curious and comfortable. This weekend is eligible for 16 CEUs. 12 contact hours + 4 non contact hours.

     

    Prerequisite: Restorative Yoga Teacher Training: The Art of Rest (32 hour program)

    Space is limited to 10 people max for this training

    Core Series

    I'm so excited to announce my newest series. I had planned to bring it to the studio this past spring but ya know, things happen... SO I'm bringing it to you this fall and we're doing it all online via Zoom with Bodhi Tree Yoga...  This series is not designed with the goal of attaining a six pack. Sorry if that's what you were hoping for.  The goal of this 4 week series is to bring strength and awareness to the WHOLE ENTIRE CORE.  We'll highlight the different part of torso visually via diagram and then we'll spend 45 minutes each week finding and feeling the different parts physically. Each class will be designed to bring you through a full range of motion just like a traditional yoga class. Each class we'll use different poses to engage the different muscles of the torso. You'll do a crunch or two but each week we'll emphasize activating the entire core using a variety of positions via standing, seated, kneeling, belly down and supine poses.  By the end of the series I hope you feel a new muscle or two in your torso and get to know your core as more than a six pack.  Join me in September for this four week journey to a stronger core and see how this awareness of of the entire torso can change your yoga practice.  - Amy G.
